The facility Tŷ Glas Industrial Estate has been transformed into a fitness arena with specific training zones complete with tools and equipment for a variety of activities that focus on strength, endurance, flexibility and fitness.

Owner and personal trainer, Sarah Clark, was inspired to set up the business as a result of a life-long interest in the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle, particularly when children are engaged at an early age. She will be supported by a team of three expert coaches who will deliver guidance and training to young people that will help them across all aspects of life from health and well-being to concentration and team work.

Sarah, 41, said: “Introducing strength, conditioning and endurance training at a young age is fun way to get children involved in physical fitness and put them on the path to a lifelong enjoyment of exercise.  Taking part in sports and fitness classes provides so many additional cognitive and psychological benefits that children can continue to benefit from throughout their life.”

Sakura will offer dedicated classes for gymnastics, weightlifting and karate in addition to a wide range of instructor led exercises classes to include spin and circuits. The programmes offer participants the opportunity to enjoy keeping fit in a fun, inclusive environment and even the option to train competitively. Structured classes for parents to attend with their babies or toddlers will also be available.

Sakura will also have a dedicated ‘homework room’ where young people can make use of their time while waiting for friends or siblings who are taking part in classes.

Sarah continues: “We welcome children and young people of all abilities – whether you’re looking for a fun way to keep fit and make new friends or have a real focus on training to compete in local or national competitions, we can help you define and reach your fitness goals.”

Sarah is passionate about providing young people with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to achieve both their life and fitness goals. The club takes its name from the word for cherry blossom; these trees are symbolic of continued strength and longevity as the cherry blossom grows back stronger every year.

Sakura is affiliated with Welsh Gymnastics, Weightlifting Wales and Karate Budokan International.

She continues:  “All too often gymnasts and athletes injure themselves because they haven’t built up their strength from a young age. The sports specific strength and conditioning training we offer at Sakura will combat that – giving young people a solid foundation to build upon. I believe it’s better to create a strong child than to fix a broken adult.”
