About

Introducing strength, conditioning and endurance training at a young age is a fun way to get children and young people involved in physical fitness and put them on the path to a lifelong enjoyment of exercise. Taking part in sports and fitness classes provides additional cognitive advantages that children can continue to benefit from for the rest of their life.

‘Sakura’ is the Japanese translation for cherry blossom, these are richly symbolic in Japanese culture.  The Japanese believe that fallen warriors were reincarnated as cherry blossom, therefore they are symbolic of love, life, courage, strength and power.  We at Sakura instill the values of life into all our programmes and classes. Sakura vision is to deliver fun, inclusive fitness experiences for all.

Our Facility

Sakura is a new concept gym specifically designed with childrens fitness in mind.  We occupy a 5800 sq ft facility that has been equipped with the tools and equipment to help you to achieve your personal goals.  Children can easily identify training zones that include Endurance, Circuits, Strength and Gymnastics.

We have a range of weighted equipment, including KettleBells, Medicine Balls and Dumbbells starting at 2kg to ensure that the appropriate weight is available for each child participating. Wall Bars, Projectors and Ropes all designed to target upper body and core strength.

A wide range of gymnastics equipment allows for children to learn safely.  Sakura have invested in 2 6metre Air Tracks that closely align with the feel of an Artistic competition floor, allowing children to learn tumbles whilst offering protection to ankles, knees and hips. Sakura has its own gymnastics club to develop children who want to further develop in this sport.

Sakura is equipped with 12 full sets of Olympic Barbells, in addition to lighter training bars and plates.  Our focus is on instructing technique in the Olympic lifts and developing individual participants who want to pursue Weightlifting as a sport.

10 Concept II indoor rowers along with 10 Indoor Race Bikes mean that each child has their own machine when attending Endurance sessions – no sharing or swapping.
